The Annual Good Friday Challenge was a massive success, as many riders and spectators enjoyed our
exhilarating Easter-themed course of Cross Country and Showjumping fences, built across our indoor
and covered arena. Six classes in total to cater for all abilities including true beginners, with a pairs
class for each height. Our clubroom provided a scrumptious menu and refreshments for spectators
and riders throughout the day- starting off with homemade breakfast muffins followed by delicious
fresh battered cod and chips in the afternoon.
Class one and two were designed for true beginners at a height of 1’9- 2ft and we saw many junior
equestrians enjoy their first ride around a course of Cross Country style fences. It was a delight to
watch the instructors who judged the class also helped encourage the brave duos to complete the
challenge. The winner of class one was Alexandra Huit riding Biscuit, in second was Fay Cogram on
MMS Blue and placing third was Fearne Everson with Ted.
Class two was a chance for the riders of the first class to take on the course together. It was beautiful
to watch the pairs race around the arenas together and work as a team in order to try and be the
fastest. It was a close contest but the winners of class two was Ellie Mutimer & Gianna Du’bell riding
Winnie & Mollie, in second place was Lily Adam & Megan on Spirit & talk of the Town and Evelyn
Samartin & Delilah Samartin with Daisy & Poppy.
Class three and four raised the height of the fences to 2-2’3ft and was designed for the slightly more
experienced riders, the winner of class three was Paige Smith riding Dream, placing second was
Rhianne Parsons with Molly and Freya Abbott on Freddie Steady Go came third.
The winners of class four was Freya Abbott & Milly Hooten riding Freddie Steady Go &Whats It All
About Alfie, placing second was Sophie Simmonds & Elizabeth Huille on Keelogs Boy & Charlie and
Paige Smith & Olivia Stead with Dream & Iceford Tinks came third.
Class five and six had the fences at their biggest, at a height of 2’6-2’9ft, and only the bravest
competitors took on the course! The winner of class five Libby King riding Diamond, in second was
Freya Moore with Millie and Amy Ball on Black-Fort Bob-Along placed third.
